The Parenting Clubhouse Podcast Episode 154: Is It Normal for My Child to Grunt When She’s Mad?

behavior parenting podcast Mar 15, 2022

Does your toddler grunt or make some other similar noise when she’s upset or frustrated about something that’s going on around her?

Maybe her brother took away the toy that she was playing with. Maybe you told her that she can’t have a snack right now. Maybe you’re making her go inside from outside playtime.

What’s really going on is that your child is responding to some irritating thing with sounds instead of words.

Is this normal? And what can you do about it? That’s what I’ll be talking about in today’s episode.

Let’s go to the show.

  • Laura Lynn explains why children may grunt when they are frustrated instead of communicating with their words like they normally do;
  • She shares how you can respond to this grunting sound to aid your child in his or her development; and
  • She shares the communication tool that she uses in her home daily with her own children.
