Hello, hello! Today on The Parenting Clubhouse Podcast we are diving into the topic of parenting goals. Why? Because if we want to see real change in our parenting style, if we want to see real change in our homes, if we want to see real change in how we feel about our parenting, or if we want to see real change with our children’s behavior, we have to, and I mean HAVE to do something different in order to bring about that change. But we can’t just do something different here or there or every now and again. We have to be consistent with doing these things differently, and thus, setting goals for ourselves that we can actually accomplish which will in turn help us to see those lasting changes that we so desperately want. Whether you’re here to learn how to be a more positive parent or how to get your kid’s tantrums under control or to create a household that runs more smoothly or any other change for that matter, this episode is for you. So, grab your notebook, pen, and coffee (most importantly) and get ready for the actionable steps I have for you to help you feel confident in your parenting, see improvements in your child’s behavior, and actually enjoy your household. And there’s so much to unpack with this topic that next week’s episode will be dedicated to setting parenting goals. So for today’s episode, we are talking about the ever-so important first step of setting the groundwork for seeing those outcomes that we want.

Have you ever set a parenting goal before? If not, why not?

I’m here to argue that you can and should set these types of goals. Why? Because they may just be the structure that you need to help bring about the changes that you want to see.

Instead of wishing and hoping for our homes to run smoother or for us to be more positive or for our kid to whine less, we need to do something about it. 

We need actionable steps, ones that are easy for us to do so that we will actually do them so we can begin to see these improvements in our lives. Plus, setting goals can help us stay accountable and consistent.

Let’s set the groundwork for creating the goals that will help us produce the outcomes that we want in our parenting.

What outcome do you want to achieve? 

I really want you to think about your own parenting life. What do you want to see changed? What do you want to be different? What outcome are you desiring? Once you’ve figured that out, we can then work backwards to create the goal to help produce that outcome.

Really pause and take some time to think about the outcome you want. Is it fewer tantrums? Is it less chaos during the morning routine when you’re trying to get everyone out the door? Is it less yelling?

Whatever your outcome is, what do you have to do to get to that outcome?
